OWW! Don't Aim the Rocks at My Face, Please! (A Valentine's Day Post)
Did I ever mention that Rod Stewart's "Have I Told You Lately" is Bob and my song. Yep. Our song. It became so when we chose it for our first dance as a married couple at our wedding reception. Bob suggested it because I used to like to tease him. (Actually, I still do...)
Me: Did I tell you today that I love you?
Bob: Not yet....
Me: Well, remind to mention it before you take me home...
This was our little ritual of exchange when we were engaged. That, and the much renowned
Me: I love you!
Bob: I love you, too!
Me: I love you THREE!
Bob: I love you FOUR!
Me: I love you MORE!
Seriously, if Facebook had been around when we first started dating, we could have met the fate of the couple in the following video...
Some days, we still pose a danger to ourselves. Like today. Yes. We ARE celebrating Valentine's Day. We do every year. And no, we don't help to keep the candy makers and florists in business. We do it our own way, so florists and candy makers will be lining up with rocks, too.
How will we be celebrating Valentine's Day? (Yes, I know you weren't asking, but I'm going to pretend you were! So there!) We order take out from the restaurant we had our first date in (because they knocked the place down and built a fancy place where you can only get their pizza on the take out menu, not in house, and we want pizza with sausage and diet cola because that is what we ate on our first date! ) and pick a romantic DVD we saw together when we were first dating or engaged (like "Three Little Words" or "'Til the Clouds Roll By", or maybe the movie we saw on our first movie date, "While You Were Sleeping"). Sometimes we go to Denny’s for coffee like we used to late at night after seeing a movie together before we were married.
I am glad we celebrate Valentine’s Day in our own way, rather than as a commercial suggests. We choose to celebrate OUR love, and not what anyone tells us love is... (Really, if I see another "He went to Jared" commercial, as if we don't like gifts that AREN'T from Jared, I will rip out the television and throw it in the foot of snow that is left in the yard!)
Bob, honey, if you by any chance I reading this post today, I love you, and I love us together! Let the stones fly, so long as my hands are in yours, my love!

New Bed = New Woman
Wow! On Saturday our brand new king size bed was delivered. We needed a new mattress, and Bob always wanted a king size bed, so I told him it's now, or ten years from now when a brand new mattress needs replacing again. Bob was overjoyed. I personally didn't think we needed a bigger bed. But, we bought one. I took Katdish's advice and bought awesome sheets, since we didn't have sheets to fit a king size bed: 610 thread count. I don't think I ever slept on a sheet that comfortable! When I got to Carson's to get this brand new awesome sheet, it turned out to be "Community Day", which meant I bought I five dollar coupon book (proceeds benefit Catholic Schools in Chicago), and in return I got 4 coupons worth 15% off of bedding (10% off electronics, 20% off most other stuff, not good at all on cosmetics) and a $10 coupon. I went wild! I bought: a plush mattress pad with comforter and two pillows included, 2 king sized pillows, a sheet set with fitted, flat, and 2 king sized pillow cases, and an extra set of pillow cases.
This morning I woke up feeling better than I have in years! My back doesn't hurt! My arms don't hurt! My shoulders don't hurt! My hips don't hurt! My neck doesn't hurt! The only thing that hurts are these durn blisters I got on my feet from running around feeling so good! I gotta do something about these orthotics! My ankles still hurt, but heck, lets blame the orthotics for that too! I don't know whether to credit a new mattress or new bed or both for feeling like a new woman, but today I feel great! I think I will write a haiku, dedicated to our new bed!
Comfortable bed
I appreciate you now
I feel so renewed.
You think that's weird, someday I'll share the love poems I wrote to my dishwasher and crock pot.

We Missed It, And It Was All My Fault....
February 14 is the feast day of St. Cyril and St. Methodius. These two great men were missionaries who translated the Bible into the slavonic language. They also invented the Cyrilic alphabet. What greater love can be shared with anyone than the love of the Saviour? These two men definitely did that.
Valetine's Day was really nice. The day before, Bob gave me flowers (carnations, my favorite. Roses make me think of funerals, carnations make me think of corsages. Macabre, I know..), a balloon that plays "I Got You Babe", and a card. On "the day" he took me to see "He's Not That Into You", which made me glad I was to stupid to know how to play the game in the first place when Bob and I were dating. I'll tell you the story some time when we all could use a good laugh. Then, we went to Denny's for dinner. Very romantic, considering when we were dating, we always went to Denny's after the show so we could just laugh and talk until really late. Didn't hang out at his place with him until we were engaged. Well, thinking about gettin engaged, anyway...Yes, we just hung out. My badness was never in that way. I'll tell you what way another time.
So, next year, instead of sending Valentines, I may send out Cyrils and Methodiui. Does that mean I have to learn a slavonic language?
BTW In case you missed it on my St. of the Day button, today is the feast day of St. Onesimus. You know the one. From the book of Philemon in the Bible. If you missed it, it is a short book with only one chapter. The lesson on hope and forgiveness in this story is absolutely beyond my words...

After Tomorrow, It is On to Random Tuesday!
So, tomorrow is the day. Yeah, I have read many "we should show our love all year round" posts and comments, and I can't argue with that. Still, I like getting my card and going out to eat on Valentine's Day. I like having a special day to shake me up into reminding Bob that he is special. And I guess I enjoy the extra attention myself. This year, instead of picking out Valentine's gifts, we are getting new sheets for our new bed. You see, the mattress on our queen size wore out, and now we need a new one. Bob has always wanted a king size bed, so the time is now, not in a couple of years throw away a good mattress because we decided to get a new bed. Anyway, the king size arrives in about two weeks. Since we didn't have a king size bed before, we need new linen for the new bed. I did mention to Bob that if he wanted to buy me flowers, I wouldn't exactly refuse them....But the official gift is the sheets. I guess I'll have to wait for the next gift giving holiday for the Mamma Mia DVD. Click here to see my review of the movie when it first came out. Do you think I could convince him that we exchange gifts for Mardi Gras? St. Patrick's Day? St. Joseph's Day? Random Thursday?
On a side note, I reread that post myself. You know, I forgot that only a short time ago, I rarely drank......I mean like I had a sangria at a party every few months or an appletini at a wedding once a year. Now I discovered I like tea with drambouie maybe once a week in the evening. I wonder who I should thank for my new habit. Any suggestions?
