Everything is Enough.

"A person who possesses God, lacks nothing; God alone is enough." St. Theresa of Avila

Wow! Now that is a thought to contemplate. With the economy going down, up, and most probably down again, me feeling more infertile this year than last, and an upcoming election whose results I expect to be unhappy with no matter who wins, that thought is quite comforting. I have God in my life. I lack nothing. He is enough. And why wouldn't He be? He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. He is everything. And that is enough. I must remember that. Thanks Theresa of Avila! Thank you, God, for being enough, whether I realize it or not.

Love the song that goes:

All of You, is more than enough for
All of me, for every thirst and every need.
You satisfy me, with Your love
and all I have in You
is more than enough...

I learned that lesson the hard way. Like so many, I turned to God as a last resort; when I was out of all other viable options. All that time wasted, when all I had to do was call out to Him...He was waiting there all along, ready to show me not MY will, but to teach me, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Not my will, but His be done. Be blessed, my friend.

We are made in the image of an infinite God and only His infinite Love can eternally satisfy us. When we know such love, then we can truly live this life in its fullness.

Hi Helen, I read your comment from yesterday, but I thought I would reply here as your post relates to what you wrote.

Thank you for sharing something so personal regarding your struggle in not having children. I can imagine the despair as been unbearable for you at times. I could say I do know how this feels. I would also say it is necessary to feel the grief and not deny it, but then let the light come on...and we can ,with God's help, change our mind about things and have a different perspective.

It seems you have done this for another day in remembering St. Theresa's words. I don't know if you remember reading a recent post of mine, where I felt I was asked the question in prayer, "Is My love enough for you?" I knew I was being asked the same question. There is a place where yes, God's love has to be enough. But it doesn't mean "settling" for less then what we had hoped for in life. If we have faith, I believe God can transform any situation for good. What is not possible with man, is possible with God. He can think of something we never thought of ...and do some creative miracle we never expected.

Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this matter....I have thought of you since yesterday when I read your comment.
God bless,
Cheri
