Images of Chicago Splendor

My city has some positive qualities. Just a few are pictured above. I still take pride in my city. Rod will never rob me of that.

I've only been there once, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Chicago. Downtown is so great! I can't wait to go back. (Especially for the pizza - you can't get that kind of pizza down here.)

Thanks, ladies. I have been focusing so much on Blagojevich lately, that I was forgetting about why I love this city. It was never the politics.
I am so looking forward to feeding Mare cheese. I have been searching for companies that would send cheese to Nigeria, and I can only find those that want to stay on the continent of North America and go abroad to certain kinds of addresses I don't understand so I don't really know if Mare's address works. And I so want to send her cheese. I don't know which is worse, a case of Maria, or no cheese. I have been saddened by her lack of cheese for a long time. I talk about it every time cheese comes up in the conversation (you would be surprised how often that is). Cheeeeeeese. Sigh.

I've only driven through there...when I was 7 and we were on our way to Akron. It was the middle of August and the air conditioning went out....(oh yeah, I was in the airport once. That is madness there!)

I have heard awesome things about the pizza and jazz clubs. Two things we must do when we converge for the party!

Let me tell you how much I LOVE Chicago. I grew up only about 2 hours away, so it's the big city I've visited most often. I love the lake. I love watching the people walk around like they have some huge and important purpose. I love the theater. I love the aquarium. I love the shopping. I love the food. But my most favorite of favorites is spending a day the the Art Institute. Cuz I'm a nerd like that.

Now let me tell you how much I LOVE cheese...

Annie: You are right about the airport. I live near Ohare, so we will get to hear the LOUD planes go by if we eat in the yard. The cheeeeeeeese should make up for it, though.

Beth: I, too, love the Art Institute of Chicago. My husband is partial to the Field Museum, but I love the Renaissance art, and the Impressionists. The aquarium is nice, too. Someday, though, I may do a post on how the Museum of Science and Industry may have scarred my psyche for life! Now, let us sing the praises of cheeeese....

Yup. Exactly. Give me rooms and rooms of Renaissance and Impressionistic art and I'm a happy camper.

Science and Industry...is that the one with the submarine in it? That amazed me as a kid, but when I went back as an adult, they moved it and now charge extra to go in it. I was bummed. I almost passed out last time I was there, too. They got me a wheel chair and everything. And it scarred your psyche for life? Maybe we should tell people to stay away from this museum and just tell them to stick to art.

Cheese, glorious, cheese. Cheese, wonderful, cheese. Cheese, you bring me to my knees. Cheese. Please.

Helen, there is something in my latest post that I think you'll find amusing. ;)
